The students and staff of Edison Middle School will be honoring Illini Basketball player Rayvonte Rice on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with an all school assembly in the Edison Middle School Auditorium with the retirement of his Edison Basketball jersey. Rayvonte’s mom and relatives will be present for this ceremony.
“We are extremely proud of what Rayvonte has accomplished on the basketball court since his 8th grade promotion from Edison Middle School in 2006,” said Marc Changnon, who is the District Coordinator for Career Programs & Community Partnerships, Edison 8th Grade Basketball Coach, and Rayvonte’s former coach and mentor. “We are equally proud of his academic success as he will graduate from the University of Illinois next month with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. The opportunity to celebrate the success of one of our Champaign Unit 4 graduates is exciting.”
Community members and media are invited to attend.
