The Grainger College of Engineering is celebrating five years of their namesake next week, running September 3-6 on campus at the University of Illinois. The college was renamed in recognition of the $100M gift from the Grainger Foundation and in honor of distinguished alumnus William W. Grainger (ECE, 1919). For the celebration, they’ll have a few open house opportunities, panels, opportunities to meet the deans, and more. Just like Engineering Open House in April, this is an opportunity to check out a huge part of campus making big impacts worldwide.

If you’re a community member that’s not on campus all that often, that’s OK. Grainger’s impact stretches into the community in a variety of ways and I’m here to tell you about a few: Their work in quantum science, the pretty amazing 240-mile autonomous track in Rantoul, or their work to enhance railways statewide, there’s plenty to learn about.
