On July 22nd and 29th, Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is hosting two Bike to Build events to help raise awareness about their work, and also raise money for home building.
If you’d like to stay a little closer to home, bring your bike over to Restore on July 22nd from 9 a.m. to noon for a Bike Rodeo. The course will include a bike inspection and helmet fitting, riding skills, a bubble blaster, and a rock dodge (which I’m going assume is not people throwing rocks at you while you ride). DJ Silkee will be providing music, and Ice Daddy will have refreshments.
For ambitious riders, there will be a 50 mile bike ride on July 29th, from Zahnd Park to Allerton Park. You will be rewarded with snacks when you arrive at Allerton, so that you are fueled up to return to Champaign. Your guide for the journey will be Anne Robin, a Habitat volunteer.
You can register for the ride now, and set up a fundraising page if you wish, but fundraising is not required to participate.
