If you live in the city limits of Champaign or Urbana, don’t vote yet

Early voting is now happening for the consolidated election on April 6th. However, a lot of you should be waiting to cast your ballot.

If you live in the city limits of Champaign or Urbana, there was a primary race, and those primary results are not yet certified. From Champaign County Clerk Aaron Ammons:

We will pick up the remaining Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots this afternoon to process and cast. Today (14 days after the election) we will certify the results from the Feb 23rd Primary Election. So far we have almost 400 ballots to count.

Anyone who was eligible (lives in the City of Champaign Township or the City of Urbana) to vote in the Feb 2021 Primary election cannot begin Early Voting in the April 2021 General Election until March 12, 2021.

If you’re not sure if you are one of the voters that should wait, you can do a sample ballot look up. If your ballot says Cunningham (this is the township that encompasses the City of Urbana limits) or City of Champaign at the top, you need to wait until March 12th.
