One of Champaign-Urbana’s institutions is coming down soon — the Illini Inn will be put to rest sometime this summer, per the News-Gazette. While this isn’t news entirely — it is worth mentioning, as there have been talks of it being demolished at some point. This summer is that time, it appears.
Home to the Mug Club and the ever-deteriorating bathrooms, it truly stands as one of the best connections to the past in C-U, especially considering how much Campustown (and U of I’s campus generally) has changed over the years.
