University of Illinois English Professor and University Scholar Catherine Prendergast has been awarded a highly prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. In doing so, she now shares the company of some of the most well respected and visionary intellectuals of our time. Notable past recipients include James Baldwin, Gwendolyn Brooks, Noam Chomsky, Anne Lamott, Steven Chu, and Joyce Carol Oates. So yeah, it’s a damned big deal.
