ISHI, the omakase restaurant in Champaign, announced that after this (Commencement and Mother’s Day) weekend, the Japanese restaurant will temporarily close for a summer break. Later in the summer, the owner plans to reopen the restaurant in a new style, but no plans are concrete yet. This announcement comes after the news of Kaori’s Oven closing; the bakery operated in the same space as ISHI.

This weekend, ISHI will not have reservations, and the restaurant will serve walk-ins only. The menu includes the same delicious kaisen-don from Matsuri in addition to chashu-don.
