It’s not too late to make the most of watermelon season

A really delicious watermelon is a beautiful treat. I only buy watermelon from local vendors at our farmers’ markets or at Common Ground Food Co-op. Buying grocery store watermelons (especially seedless ones, in my opinion), is a waste because they are flavorless and oftentimes mealy. A slice of watermelon is great, but I also really like it in savory applications like a salad with cucumber, feta, and mint (or basil).

Consider picking up a watermelon at Urbana’s Market at the Square or Common Ground for this unofficial final weekend of the summer. If you’re in need of a recipe that will please everyone, consider this popsicle one courtesy of Common Ground.
