Each year, The Golden Apple Foundation awards teachers in Illinois that have “lasting, positive effects on students’ lives and school communities.” It was recently announced that Kim Tate, 5th grade teacher at International Prep Academy, was named one of 30 finalists in the state for the honor, which comes with a $5000 cash award and a spring sabbatical granted by Northwestern University. Winners will also become fellows in the Golden Apple Academy of Educators. The field is quite competitive.

Tate was surprised at school this morning with the news that she’s been named one of the 2023 Golden Apple Awards winners. Congrats to Ms. Tate and hooray for teachers!
