On March 30th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Community Foundation of East Central Illinois will be hosting their latest Board Bootcamp session at the Champaign Public Library. The session, titled “So You Want to Join a Nonprofit Board” will give you a comprehensive look at what it means to serve on a nonprofit board, with expertise from Rebecca Guyette, Chief Development Officer for United Way of Champaign County, Chris Randles, VP/CFO of Parkland College, and Michelle Gonzales, Special Assistant for Strategic Initiatives at University of Illinois. You’ll learn:
- The benefits of joining a nonprofit board
- What skills and expertise are needed most of nonprofit board members
- Considerations and what questions to ask before joining a board
- Basic roles and responsibilities of board members
- How to choose a nonprofit board to join
- What is expected of board members in terms of time and financial commitment
