Urbana’s Lincoln Hotel will be called the Hotel Royer when it opens in late 2022. According to a lovely article by Tom Kacich in The News-Gazette, the hotel will be named after Joseph Royer, an Urbana-born architect who designed a bunch of local buildings, including the Urbana Free Library and Champaign County Courthouse.
As a member of the Hilton Tapestry Collection, the Hotel Royer will maintain the aesthetic of its past, but with updated, modern amenities.
