Look at this beautiful paste-up mural U of I art students made

The University of Illinois School of Art and Design students in ARTS 405: Printstallation, created and installed a gorgeous paste-up mural at Carrie Busey elementary school in Savoy, inspired by (and responding to the loss of) the historic tallgrass prairie that once covered the Midwest.

Professor Emmy Lingscheit’s assignment had the students hand-carve the relief prints of plants and print them on paper. Then the prints were cut out and pasted on the wall, as you see pictured. This project was a collaboration between all the students, and it looks stunning.

If you’re headed toward Carrie Busey this weekend stop by to see all the detail you can’t get in a photo.
