On this Veterans Day, look at this World War I recruiting station in Downtown Champaign

Julie posted about Hessel Park late last week, and it inspired me to go check out Champaign Urbana History today. Mike Moran always comes through in the clutch in that Facebook group, and he posted this one today for Veteran’s Day 2018.

The photo is taken in Downtown Champaign in front of the Flat Iron Building, which was previously located on the northeast corner of Main and Neil Street, though it was demolished in 1969, 60 years after it was built.
