Parkland Planetarium director is participating in “Science on Screen”

Staerkel Planetarium director David Leake will be the featured speaker for the February 26th installment of Science on Screen at the Art Theater. The series, which takes place every Monday now through March 12 features a science-related movie and discussion with a local expert in the field. Leake will lead the discussion following Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which is awesome. Check out the full press release below:

Planetarium Director to Talk in Art Theatre’s “Science on Screen”

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Staerkel Planetarium Director David Leake will provide his take on life around the cosmos as it relates to a science film classic showing at the Art Theater Feb. 26.

Leake’s discussion for the Art Theater’s Science on Screen® series will follow the screening of the 1977 film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” by Steven Spielberg, showing at 7:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to join the Art Theater every Monday between February 12 and March 12 for a movie and post-screening discussion led by an expert in a field related to the film’s themes. Science on Screen® is an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. For more on the series, visit thearttheater.org/science-screen-series.
