Public libraries choose Maltese Falcon for Big Read 2009

Through a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, the two main libraries in Champaign County have decided to promote the 1930 novel, Maltese Falcon, by Dashiell Hammett, for this year’s Big Read.

The idea behind the promotion is simple: try to get as many people in the community to participate in a shared experience of reading the same novel at the same time. Accompanying the read, our very own P. Gregory Springer will be hosting and introducing a a screening of the film by the same name, starring Humphrey Bogart, at the Virginia Theatre on April 30, at 7 p.m.
