On Wednesday, March 1st, Tim Cho will compete on the tv show Jeopardy! in the High School Reunion Tournament. In 2018, Cho was a contestant in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament and won $10,000 as a semi-finalist. In tomorrow night’s episode, he returns to the quiz show to challenge other former teen contestants.
Currently a senior at Columbia University, Cho said his tournament strategy is “to be calm and good on the buzzer.”
This is not the first time someone from Champaign-Urbana has been a contestant on the Jeopardy! game show. C-U Adventures in Time & Space co-owner Anne Lukeman has been on Jeopardy!, and in 2016, alumnus Seth Wilson won over $231,000. When he was a University of Illinois PhD student, Pranjal Vachaspati won a six games in a row. In 2019, U of I alum James Holzhauera set a single day winnings record with $110,914, and most recently Samantha Wells, a Master of Social Work student at U of I, also competed on the game show in 2021.
