Sitting volleyball player Nichole Millage is headed to Toyko

Recently, we spoke with Paralympic gold and silver medalist Nichole Millage about not being selected for the U.S. sitting volleyball team for the Tokyo Paralympics. What a difference a week can make.

Millage was contacted by her coach, letting her know a teammate would likely not be able to attend, and was asked if she was ready if needed. Her response?

“Yeah, of course I’m ready.”

After eight days of waiting for confirmation, she found out Thursday that she could pack her bags. For various reasons, the entire team was delayed in their departure, so four players left Friday, and Millage and the rest of the team will leave Wednesday.

It will be a tight schedule. They will arrive in the village Thursday night Japan time, and their first match, against Rwanda, will be Saturday.

Sitting volleyball will air on NBCSN, and matches can also be seen on the NBCSN app. Most games will be on early in the morning our time, so set up some recordings if you want to catch a game. Should the team make the gold medal match, a good possibility, you can watch in prime time on September 5th.

August 28th USA vs Rwanda (12 a.m. CT)

August 30th USA vs China (4:30 a.m. CT)

September 1st USA vs Russia (4:30 a.m. CT)

September 3rd – women’s semifinals (4:30 a.m. CT) & (6:30 a.m. CT)

September 5th – gold medal match (8 p.m. CT)

You can find the full Paralympics schedule here.
