The Speak Life workshop, funded through an Urbana Arts Grant, is for 12-18 year olds and will be led by renowned poet Tasleem Jamila. The five day workshop is free, but is only open to 20 students, so registration is required. Below are the details on dates, times, and content. International award winning poet, Tasleem Jamila, will lead a 5-day high-energy creative writing and performing workshop for youth ages 12-18. This workshop will introduce the art of spoken word poetry, focusing on foundational knowledge, innovative uses of language for the purposes of self-expression, and effective conveyance of one’s poetry for connection and entertainment. NOTE: This is a five day workshop, with a showcase on March 16, 2018 at the IMC.

Monday, March 12, 2018 to Friday March 16, 2018 – 3pm to 6pm for 5 days (for students who get out of school before 3pm)
(4pm to 6pm for students who get out of school at 3:30 or 3:45pm)
Final showcase will be Friday, March 16, 2018 –
