University of Illinois professor of piano (and Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the College of Fine and Applied Arts) Rochelle Sennet’s Bach to Black project takes the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (the Baroque period composer) and pairs it with the music of contemporary Black composers. The project won a gold medal in the Global Music Awards in July 2021.
