The Celebration Company at the Station Theatre in Urbana has just announced its slate of summer offerings.

First off, Laura Alcantara will direct William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Performances are June 6-22, and audition info is listed below.

The second summer production, Naomi Wallace’s The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, will be directed by Saskia Bakker and will run July 5-20.

Closing out the Station’s 47th season is Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, directed by Chelsea Collier. This show will run August 1-17.

Audition info for The Taming of the Shrew is as follows (per the Station Facebook page):

Where: The Station Theatre
When: Monday, April 29, 2019
What time: 6:30pm-9:30pm

Description of the play: Padua. Then, or maybe now. Wealthy Baptista has two daughters. The youngest, Bianca: a modest maid, fair and virtuous. The eldest, Kate: an “irksome, brawling scold”, famous for her vicious tongue. When three suitors come to Padua vying for Bianca’s hand in marriage, Baptista will have none of them. Not until Kate is married and provided for.

So! Who will our three suitors find to tame Padua’s notorious Shrew?

CHARACTERS (available roles):

Petruchio – suitor to Katharina, cock of the walk.
Gremio – suitor to Bianca, an ancient man of Padua.
Tranio – groom to Lucentio, young and brilliant.
Grumio – groom to Pertruchio, an incorrigible wise-acre.
Apollonia – a wealthy widow of Padua.
