Around the Block IV

In collaboration with 40 North, Giertz Gallery at Parkland College will be hosting Around the Block, a summer exhibition of regional artists, from June 5th through July 26th. This is the fourth installment for the Around the Block series, which originated in 2015, and is the first in-person showing of the exhibition since 2017. Any artist 18 years and older who resides in Champaign County and counties within the Parkland College 505 District is eligible to apply.

Submissions must feature original work that has been completed since January 2020 and has not previously been exhibited at Giertz Gallery. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 8th with opening remarks given by Kelly White, Executive Director of 40 North, and Lisa Costello, Director of Giertz Gallery. The show’s closing reception will take place on July 26th, and will feature a gallery talk by the guest juror for the show, Christopher Schneberger, Assistant Professor of Photography and Gallery Director at Vincennes University in Indiana.

The deadline to submit artwork is April 24th, and all submissions must be made online. More information can be found on the Around the Block website.
