Saturday, October 28th will be the 14th annual Disability Resource Expo at Marketplace Mall. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be close to 100 exhibitors there to share the resources and service they offer to people living with disabilities. According to co-coordinator Alison Boot, “The purpose of the Expo give people with disabilities and their loved ones easy access to the resources needed for a great quality of life.” I spoke with Boot and her husband and fellow co-coordinator Dylan before last year’s event.
The event is free and family friendly, and being this close to Halloween, costumes are encouraged! There will be a costume contest, as well as an interactive scavenger hunt.
Various accessibilty aids will be available for those who need them, including wheelchairs, walkers, and materials in Braille, large print, or on flash drives.
You can take a look at the resource guide online to see which organizations will be participating in the expo.
