Thanks to Champaign’s allotment of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, lighting in the the Garden Hills neighborhood will be improved by Fall 2024.

The city will be using $4 million of the $25 million they received to complete the project, which will include construction of light poles throughout the neighborhood. Work will begin on the north end, and progress to the south.

We’ve talked about the need for infrastructure improvements in Garden Hills before, and hope that this is just the beginning. According to the city, pedestrian safety and drainage will also be addressed as part of the Garden Hills Neighborhood Action Plan.
