The Champaign County Clerk’s office is upping their vote by mail game

Champaign County Clerk and Recorder Aaron Ammons shared the arrival of a new machine that will help make the vote by mail process more efficient on the back end. It’s kind of mesmerizing to watch it work.

According to his Facebook post, more than 30,000 people voted by mail in the 2020 election. In 2021, the Illinois General Assembly passed a bill that included the establishment of a permanent vote by mail list, where you can sign up once then automatically receive a mail-in ballot for each election.

Ammons is hosting a voter education series at the Champaign Public Library in room C. The first session is March 19th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will focus on vote by mail and voting centers.
