Back in June, the City of Urbana affirmed the “Ten Shared Principles” developed by the NAACP and Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and it was adopted by the City of Urbana Police Department and NAACP of Champaign County in September. They are now inviting the public to attend a listening session to offer input on their Use of Force policy.
There are three options (Zoom meeting ID 879 2488 4783):
November 12th, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (this one prioritizes youth voices)
November 12th, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
November 13th, 3 to 5 p.m.
The sessions will be moderated by Community Engagement Coordinator Lemond Peppers. You can make suggestions for policy changes by emailing [email protected] through November 20th.
