The Family Room, an organization that “provides comfort and joy to children in transitional or temporary home situations by providing care packs, clean clothing, and other necessities,” will be stationed in the parking lot of Walmart in Savoy on Saturday, September 12th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They will be collecting donations of backpacks and schools supplies for New Home Kits.
The kits are provided to new foster families when they accept a new foster child into their home, and will also contain some clothing, hygiene items, a book, and comfort items for the child.
You can donate a gently used backpack, or purchase a new one for the collection.
