Pending approval from the U of I Board of Trustees, Claire Stewart will be the next Juanita J. and Robert E. Simpson Dean of Libraries and University Librarian Designate beginning May 16th. University Library Professor Christopher Prom is currently serving in the administrative role on an interim basis, after the previous dean, John Wilken, stepped down in November.
Stewart is coming to U of I from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she serves as the Dean of Libraries. You can read more about her background here.
