The village of Tolono will have a farmers market pop-up this Thursday. The one-time event will have farmers, bakers, live music, and a food truck from 5 to 8 p.m. this Thursday, September 5th at 123 Main Street in Tolono.
The night market will offer fresh-picked vegetables, garlic, and more from Champaign’s Humbleweed Farm and Urbana’s Sola Gratia Farm. Stop by Mileur Orchard‘s table for late summer peaches, crisp apples, handmade cobblers, and cider doughnuts.
C-U’s bagel business Good Judys’ Bagels will be there with from-scratch bagels in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the everything bagel, and on occasion, I’ll go for blueberry, but I think they’re all yummy.
Other vendors at this Thursday’s one-time market include Auteberry Farms, Salt Fork Bee Ranch, Krossing Korner Boutique, Sista’s Savory Organic Teas, and La Paloma food truck. During the event, enjoy background music by Big Daddy Pride. Stick around for the after party at the Loose Cobra. A Patsy Cline tribute band called The Recliners will start playing at 8 p.m. at the end of market.
The organizer Matt Talbott said, “I like doing cool things that bring people together, and I’m glad for this opportunity to do something inclusive and community oriented in Tolono’s downtown. It’s something I had been wanting to put together for some time.”
This year, Tolono will only have one farmers market, but the Talbott hopes to host more market events in Tolono next year. For more, click to the event page.
