Try a tea ceremony at Japan House this summer

Summer is a great time to swing by Japan House for a tea ceremony. There are three more dates on the calendar for you to experience “Chado”, the Way of Tea. You’ll learn the history of the art form and watch the preparation before enjoying a bowl of Matcha tea and a taste of wagashi. The Japanese sweet will be prepared using a recipe from Kimiko Gunji’s The Art of Wagashi cookbook.

Public tea ceremonies are on Wednesday evenings beginning at 5:30 p.m. Ceremonies are limited to 15 people, and you will be required to wear a mask except when you are eating or drinking. Ticket prices range from $12-20, and you can purchase and make your reservations for the June 15th, 22nd, and 29th events on the Japan House website
