Urbana Park District is celebrating America Recycles Day, which is Saturday, November 4th. Check out the information below via their website:

Anita Purves Nature Center

All Ages (under 15 with adult)

How can you Recycle, Reuse and Reduce waste in the bathroom—the most overlooked room when it comes to recycling? Join us to learn what to do with boxes, bottles and containers from the bathroom.

  • A drop-box will be available where you can recycle toothbrushes (including electric) and empty tubes of toothpaste (squeeze out all of the toothpaste first!).
  • Bring your own empty toothpaste tube and transform it into a coin pouch during the event!
  • Donations of new/unopened toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, and shampoo will be accepted during the event and donated to C-U at Home.

Make your own creation from reused or repurposed materials at home before the event, and to win an award in the fourth annual Creative Reuse Competition. Visit to sign up. The entry deadline is October 28.

Call 217-384-4062 for more information.
