Tomorrow at the Urbana Park District‘s Crystal Lake Aquatic Center, families will be able to get school supplies, literacy guides and much more. The event will run from 5:30 – 8 pm, and RSVP details are below:

AQUATIC CENTER.Urbana Park District to host free field and pool event to distribute school
supplies, grooming services, literacy guides for all ages, and family
resources for Urbana and Champaign families from 5:30-8p.URBANA, JULY 10, 2017 /Champion Diaries/ — In the Champaign-Urbana community, there are organizations and leaders who want to influence a wave of students who value literacy, activity, and family engagement. And in that same motion, will distribute school supplies, grooming services, teen driving safety guides, and information to families who otherwise would not be able to afford them on this same evening. This is the FREE WAVE: VIP Access for Back to School Success, #FWU.
Thanks to the Urbana and Champaign Park Districts, USD116 and Unit 4 Schools, Dream Girls Academy and the NAACP of Champaign County, the Urbana Free Library, State Farm Agent Joe Stovall, Triple T Carwash & Lube, First String Sports, and many others in this community, students will receive the necessary supplies, services and resources to sustain them throughout the school year. We are seeking others to join our vending list with pens and pencils, highlighters, notebooks, loose leaf paper, folders, binders, markers, crayons, facial tissue, hand sanitizer, water bottles and rulers.
Another wave #FWU wants to address is the engagement of families in the schools. Whether it is better communication with the teachers and administration, more support with the child’s learning and studying habits, or becoming active members of the PTSA, we want to influence instrumental change by creating a consistent, strong, and united front, to ensure academic success. Businesses and individuals can become a school sponsor, and reserve space at FREE WAVE to represent and engage with the families.
There will be academic professionals from each district at this event who pursue the same goal everyday, and that is to produce students who will positively impact our future.
