Deke Weaver, SP’s BEST Artist of the Decade, has made the video for his 2010 Unreliable Bestiary performance, ELEPHANT, available for free on Vimeo. It’ll only be up for a couple of weeks, after which Weaver will upload 2013’s WOLF. You should just follow him on Vimeo to stay up on the new uploads.
ELEPHANT is a moving story, and the visuals are stunning. The performance took place in the University of Illinois Stock Pavilion, and included an incredible, massive elephant puppet. Everything about this performance is epic.
Viewers beware, though:
- This performance will bring you to tears. I find all of Weaver’s performances to be deeply unnerving and moving, but this one cut me the deepest. I still think about it regularly, and it’s been ten years.
- You will also forever, for the rest of your life, have one of the songs stuck in your head. You will never be able to say the word butter without singing the song. Just watch. You’ll see.
