WEFT’s longest running program comes to very sad end

Steve Hutson, the host of WEFT’s longest running program The Sky Tonight, was found dead in his Monticello home after an apparent double suicide with his wife.

Long time listeners of WEFT are probably familiar with The Sky Tonight, which was a weekly 5-minute program on “Central Illinois’ astronomical wonders.” The program aired during the Morning Menu and had run for nearly thirty years. There is little doubt that many locals owe their interest and knowledge of astronomy directly to Hutson. Our thoughts go out to family, friends and regular listeners.
