Welcome to the Pow-wow opens at Spurlock Museum this weekend

Spurlock Museum is adding a new permanent exhibit this weekend that showcases the elements of pow-wows. Welcome to the Pow-wow: An Intertribal Pow-wow Experience opens April 1st with a celebration at 4 p.m. featuring a performance by Bizhiki Culture and Dance Company and a reception.

According to the Spurlock website, the exhibit invites you to “see the ornate, intricate regalia. Listen to songs and drumming. Touch the furs, beads, and other materials that are used to create the regalia and drums.”

The opening celebrating reception is free and open to all. Additionally, the Bizhiki company will be hosting a Bead Workshop tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are free, but spots are limited so reserve your space now!
