Why you and everyone you know should do the GCAP Walk, Run, Roll

The Greater Community AIDS Project is hosting a 1 mile walk, 5K run, or 10 mile bike ride on October 9 at Burwash Park in Savoy, IL.

That said, we really don’t care how fast you are. What we care about is building a war chest against impending changes in the state’s drug assistance program that will put life saving medicines out of the reach of many with HIV/AIDS in our community. With changes like waiting lists and caps, we will soon be joining the ranks of West Virginia and Kentucky.

So take two hours next Saturday and show up. Better yet, hit up your friends for donations or bring them so that you can win a $400 Krannert ticket package, three month membership to Truly Fit, $75 gift certificate to Champaign Cycle, as well as gift certificates to Xinh Xinh, Le Peep, and more. Kids 6 to 18 can win a party package from Jupiter’s at the Crossing, $75 gift certificate to Champaign Cycle, a new helmet from Durst Cycle, or a combo costume/candy package from Dallas & Co. and World Harvest.

All courses are wheel chair and stroller accessible. Minimum donation is $20 for adults, $10 for kids 6 to $18 ― kids under 6 are too cute to charge and will be given red balloons.

You need not be present to win. Which means that if you are truly a couch potato you can register, raise money, and sleep in Saturday morning.

Registration packets are here.
