It was an exciting weekend at Huff Hall as Illini Volleyball hosted the Buckeyes and the Terrapins. Rescheduled to an 8:00 p.m. start time, Friday’s match against Ohio State was carried live on the Big10 network. The ladies came out strong and never gave up, defeating the Buckeyes in three straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20. Carrying the momentum forward, the Illini took on Maryland Saturday evening, winning their annual Pink Match in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-22. The Illini improved their record to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in Big10 play. The ladies will travel to Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota to play before returning home again on Oct. 28 to face Penn State.

The annual “Pink Night” Breast Cancer Awareness match was held on Saturday. For this match, the ladies wore specially designed jerseys which were auctioned off by the Illini Networker’s booster club, with all proceeds going to to the Mills Breast Cancer Institute in Urbana, Ill.
