WHERE: Community Center 4 the Arts (free)

WHEN: Friday, August 19th at 5 p.m.

Improvisational band Tone Road Ramblers start at jazz and then stretch across several genres in their music. This session at C4A will include a Q & A segment after the performance to make this free event informative as well.

WHAT: CU Folk and Roots Concert at the Lakehouse

WHERE: Crystal Lake Park Lakehouse (free)

WHEN: Friday, August 19th at 12 p.m.

This session of the lunchtime CU Folk and Roots Festival-sponsored event will feature the Bashful Youngens.

WHAT: The Fights with Adam Remnant and Magick John’s Son

WHERE: Library House (free – donations suggested)

WHEN: Friday, August 19th at 7 p.m.

Local country faves The Fights will be headlining this evening at Library House, which will also feature touring folk-rock singer Adam Remnant of Ohio. The third act is a mystery, so you’ll just have to show up to see who it is.

WHAT: Taste of Champaign-Urbana 2016

WHERE: West Side Park (admission is free)

WHEN: Friday, August 19th from 5 – 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 20th from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.

One of C-U’s best summer festivals is back, with entertainment to fit all types. Delicious food and beer from local vendors will accompany a solid musical lineup, featuring headliners Kurtis Blow and Vertical Horizon. Here’s the full list:

WHERE: Ananda Liina Center in Urbana ($5 suggested donation)

The Ananda Liina Meditation & Yoga Center is hosting their third Conscious House Concert, featuring local acts of the folk and bluegrass variety. This show is a monthly occurrence that donates proceeds to revolving charities, with this month’s charity being Education Justice Project

WHERE: The Accord ($8 advance/$10 door)

WHEN: Saturday, August 20th at 7 p.m.

The Accord has some heavy-hitting locals this Saturday, with emo rockers Euriah celebrating the release of their new album, Passenger. Folk-indie outfit Tara Terra will also be there to take part in the festivities. This will be a fun show of familiar favorites that are sure to please you.

WHAT: Dirty Feathers with Finer Feelings

WHERE: Memphis on Main (cover unknown)

WHEN: Saturday, August 20th at 9 p.m.

Psych rock partiers Dirty Feathers will be jamming alongside Finer Feelings, who will be playing tracks from their new album Dog Band. These two local bands will add on to making this street corner a pretty cool place to be on this night.

WHAT: Jimmy Davis

WHERE: Boomerangs (no cover)

WHEN: Sunday, August 21st at 6 p.m.

Bluesy country artist Jimmy “Daddy” Davis has worked with members of The Eagles and appeared on MTV. He plays an annual show at Urbana’s Boomerangs, and there’s cheap beer and no cover. What could be better?

WHAT: The Inbetween Days/King of The Coast (Solo)/The Snail Inhalers

WHERE: Institute 4 Creativity ($5)

WHEN: Sunday, August 21st at 8 p.m.

Sunday at I4C will feature the rock and roll sounds of Chicago’s The Inbetween Days and some beachy rock from King of the Coast’s Larry Sheridan. The Snail Inhalers make three and a fourth act is in the works. There is an end-of-summer theme for this show that will help you coast into your work week on the breeze.
