Champaign Outdoors had their Grand Opening celebration this weekend, though they opened to the public this summer. It’s the new version of Champaign Surplus, which had been at it’s location at 303 South Neil since the eighties. After launching Rugged Outdoors as an online arm of the business, co-owners Shira and Dan Epstein decided to rebrand Champaign Surplus to better reflect the concept of the store, and they moved down the road to 2017 S. Neil Street, in the bustling commercial area surrounding Harvest Market. They’ve also opened a new corporate headquarters and online warehouse on Mercury Drive.
Champaign Outdoors is where you will find the newest products and apparel for the season, while the brick and mortar version of Rugged Outdoors next door is the place to browse sale racks. Here are a few photos of the new digs:
