Urbana, IL—On March 11, the University of Illinois communicated new guidelines for university operations, enacted to safeguard health during current COVID-19 conditions.

In accordance with these guidelines, the following changes will take place at Krannert Center beginning Monday, March 16. This is a rapidly evolving situation, and further changes could take place. If this occurs, those changes will be shared as soon as possible on KrannertCenter.com, through Krannert Center’s email newsletter, and on Facebook. If patrons have questions, they may contact Krannert Center staff at 217.333.6280 (800/KCPATIX), 217.333.6700, or comments@krannertcenter.illinois.edu.

Performances | All public performances at Krannert Center the remainder of this semester are canceled. If any performances become available by way of streaming or other technology, the Center will share that information as soon as possible. While this action is necessary and wise, the Center is of course deeply saddened not to be able to help create experiences of joy and community in person at this time.

Patrons holding tickets for events this spring that would like to help Krannert Center, Illinois Theatre, Lyric Theatre @ Illinois, Dance at Illinois, School of Music, Sinfonia da Camera, and Champaign-Urbana Symphony weather the significant financial challenges that this situation creates, may consider declining their refund, thereby donating the cost of the tickets. If they would like to take this action, they should contact the Ticket Office at 217.333.6280 (800/KCPATIX) or [email protected] by Wednesday, March 25. Ticket Office staff will be happy to register this donation.

After March 25, all tickets that have not been donated will be fully refunded. Ticket purchasers do not have to take any action to receive their refunds. Patrons who purchased tickets with a credit card will receive a refund on the card used. Patrons who paid with Krannert CenterChecks or a gift card will receive a gift card refund by mail. Patrons who paid with cash or check will receive a university refund check by mail. Because of the volume of refunds being processed, credit card and gift card refunds might take up to four weeks to arrive. University refund checks might take up to 10 weeks to arrive. Patrons are welcome to contact the Ticket Office at 217.333.6280 (800/KCPATIX) or [email protected] with questions.

Tours | All tours of Krannert Center the remainder of this semester are canceled.

Other Events | All other public events, such as volunteer training and Dance for People with Parkinson’s classes, the remainder of this semester are canceled.

Krannert Uncorked | All instances of Krannert Center Uncorked the remainder of this semester are canceled.

Intermezzo Cafe, Promenade Showcase + Gift Shop | At this time,  Intermezzo and Promenade will maintain their regular Monday through Friday business hours (Intermezzo 7:30am to 3:30pm, Promenade 2pm to 6pm). Intermezzo and Promenade will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays. If this changes, that information will be shared as soon as possible.

From Director, Mike Ross and the Krannert Center Staff:

“Current conditions clearly present great challenges to students, artists, and all in our communities both local and global. The arts provide a source of inspiration and solace to many in good times and in bad, and all who work at Krannert Center take pride and joy in helping to provide a place to gather in community. Although it is necessary that our operations change for a time, we hope that you continue to gain hope and strength from the arts, even if through different means for now. Thank you for your steadfast support, and we look forward to seeing you before long.”
