“Lost” C-U horror flick rises from dead

In 1993, not long after graduating from UIUC, the self-styled “most dangerous man in comics” Hart D. Fisher filmed the impressionistic horror film The Garbage Man in C-U before hightailing it to California. As of yesterday, June 30, it has finally been released on DVD. Old-school local music fans can relive the flip side of the era’s rock music scene (e.g., *not* the bands that reunited for “1993 Revisited” or “Play or Pose”) as its soundtrack features the likes of Third Stone, Mole Temple, and Lovengineer, who are shown playing Mabel’s near the end of the movie. The curious ones can get the DVD through Exile on Main Street. Even if the movie itself isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, there is a grungy time capsule quality about it that arguably makes it worth a peek. Here’s the cover artwork.
