PechaKucha Night Champaign-Urbana vol. 12 is almost here! Beginning at 8:20 p.m. (doors open at 7:45) on May 18 and hosted by the Krannert Art Museum, this free event will showcase eight local creatives, each presenting quick-fire, “show and tell”-type presentations.
Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit chat”), PechaKucha is a presentation format based on a simple idea: 20 slides at 20 seconds each, for a grand total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds per presenter. This keeps presentations concise and the interest level up.
PechaKucha’s focus is on passion, not portfolio, and the presenters come from diverse creative backgrounds.

Pecha Kucha Night is hosted by the Champaign-Urbana Design Organization, whose mission is to cultivate a vibrant, local design culture.
PechaKucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham Architecture), was conceived in 2003 in Tokyo and has tapped into a demand that has spread virally to almost 500 cities globally. Champaign-Urbana was the 217th city to host a PechaKucha Night.
