[[mp3 sp_radio_01-24-14]]

This week on the podcast, we talk about a new documentary called Health Care in All the Wrong Places and its implications for the U.S.’s current health care system.

Dr. Patch Adams and Dr. Susan Parenti (who wrote and directed the film) join us to discuss the movie and talk a bit more broadly about health care. The film debuts on at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th at the Art Theater in Champaign.

Dr. Adams founded the Gesundheit! Institute and has devoted his professional career to promoting alternative models of medicine to the current insurance company model in use in the United States. He seeks to bring a more holistic and light-hearted approach to treating illness. He was also the subject of a semi-biographical 1998 film starring Robin Williams.

Susan Parenti is a touring performer, writer and collaborator with Dr. Adams. She was one of the founding organizers of the School for Designing a Society, a grassroots school for social change in Urbana.

Smile Politely Radio airs each Friday evening at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, and is available as a podcast the following week.
