Boston rapper Sammy Adams hit it big back in 2009 with his hit “I Hate College”– since then he has struggled to maintain the hype. However, he did just release his debut studio album earlier this spring- check out his single “Remember” off of it.

What: Ninth Parallel

Electronic musician Ninth Parallel is headlining this one at the Canopy Club. Ninth Parallel is known for his fantastic remix of Porter Robinson’s “Sea of Voices”. Joining him will be local rapper Mishul.

What: The Way Down Wanderers

When: Wednesday, April 27th at 10 p.m.

Peoria group The Way Down Wanderers are one of the hottest bluegrass bands in the midwest. Their debut album is expected out in July but you can listen to a few of the tracks already on their website. Don’t miss the chance to see this great up and coming group for only $3 as they play on Wednesday at The Canopy Club as a part of Summer Camp Wednesdays.

Presented by Oak Cellar Door, this show features Chicago indie rock grouop The Boxers, along with electronic musician Swill the Will, psychadelic rock group Lime Forest, and local up and coming rock group King of the Coast.

Funky electronic duo BoomBox are playing this Thursday at The Canopy Club- check out their chill tune “Stereo”. Opening up for them is Detroit House DJ SuperDre.

Where: Institute 4 Creativity (I4C), free, donations encouraged.

When: Friday, April 29th at 5 p.m.

Lately the I4C have expanded their programming and have put on a lot of great all-ages shows recently. Help keep them going by coming out on Friday evening to show your support. There will be music from Ryan Groff of Elsinore, Snayl, Under the Wolf Moon, and others.

A whole of slew of young local indie rock groups will be playing at The Canopy Club this Friday. Prepare to see Ocean Glass, local pop-indie rock group Grand Ambassador, jazz rock group The Phantom Broadcast, funk band Square Donuts, and folk rock group table talk.

Local rock group Krelboyne are celebrating the split release of their new album along with We Love You. Come celebrate with them on Friday night at Mike N Mollys. Also playing will be Leaving and Kentucky group The Menagerie.

What: Bones Jugs album release show

When: Saturday, April 30th at 8 p.m.

Well loved local Americana percussion group Bones Jugs are finally releasing their second full-length album Don’t Waste a Drop this Saturday. Come out and grab a copy of the new album or just take in some great music. Here is one of the tracks off the new album to get you in the mood- “The Nurse Is In”. Joining them will be long-time local musician Samuel Payne and local singer-songwriter Fiona Kimble.

Come out and take in some live hip-hop action at Exile on Main Street this Saturday evening. The show is presented by CIEAR (Chambana Indies Entertain Audiences Right), and will feature local musicians Young Club, Patrick, KVMPVIGN, and others.

Danish/Norweigan electronic duo Pegboard Nerds are responsible for some of the hottest dance tracks of the last few years like “Disconnected”. Come out and party with them on Sunday night at The Canopy Club.

Master fiddler Bruce Molsky is coming to Urbana this Sunday for a workshop and a performance at The Iron Post. Come out and take in some mountain music on a Sunday night.
