The University Library is resuming services

The U of I Library system is resuming services for students and faculty, but currently their spaces remain closed. They’ve detailed their offerings and procedures for accessing materials on their website. Here are the important points:

  • All of our digital services and collections are running, and we’ll continue to provide access to selected materials from our print collection via the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service and other electronic services.
  • We’re adding capacity to scan and lend books in digital forms—look for more details soon.
  • Items that cannot be delivered digitally are available for pickup in the Main Library’s Marshall Gallery or in the Grainger Library Engineering Information Center.
  • All UIUC-owned or licensed materials will be accessible to members of the campus community within seven days of being requested, one way or the other.
  • Remote reference and research consultation will continue.
  • Beginning August 24, we’ll add on-site, by-appointment reference and research service in several Library locations.
  • Library instruction will happen remotely where possible, with some provisions made for on-site instruction when necessary. Please contact a subject specialist or Ask a Librarian to schedule.
  • Our Special Collections units are working to provide remote services and appointment-based, on-site access, when needed.

As circumstances, safety, and staffing capacity allow, we will add additional support. For example, we plan to provide some study space options early in the fall semester, and will expand services in other ways. As soon as we have more details about those plans, we’ll post those here.

For added information, check on the FAQ on their site
