A couple of weeks ago, we told you about a new curling club taking root in Champaign. Did you know that there is also a speedskating club that meets weekly at the U of I Ice Arena? Champaign Regional Speedskating is open to all ages and abilities, and once a year they host the Land of Lincoln Short Track Championships. A fun fact: Champaign hosted the very first World Short Track Championships back in 1976.
This year’s competition is February 22nd and 23rd at the ice arena. You can find the racing schedule here.
