This year Illinois is celebrating it’s bicentennial, and Giertz Gallery at Parkland, in collaboration with 40 North, is recognizing it with an Illinois 200 art exhibit. It opens June 18th and run through August 8th. The exhibit will feature the work of 44 artists from all over the state, including several from Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas. There will be an opening and closing reception, and the gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the summer. You can go to Parkland’s website for more information about the exhibit.

Giertz Gallery is located on the Parkland College campus at 2400 W. Bradley Ave. in Champaign. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. To find the gallery, we suggest using the M6 parking lot on the north corner of the campus. Enter through door X7, turn left, and follow the ramps uphill to the highest point of the first floor, where the gallery is located. The gallery windows overlook the outdoor fountain area.
