Stories & Beer presents Steve Davenport, Lindsey Markel & Butler Alums

Stories & Beer | Mike ‘n’ Molly’s | Saturday | 5 p.m. | FREE

This Saturday at Mike ‘N Molly’s, Stories & Beer presents University of Illinois Professor and author of the collection OVERPASS, Steve Davenport who will read from his work alongside local author Lindsey Gates-Markel. Both Davenport and Markel have been a part of Champaign-Urbana’s growing literary community for a really long time and as such, know how to rock your face off. They’ll be by three alums from Indianapolis’ Butler University who are also undoubtedly well-versed in rocking your face off. Come if you can.

Steve Davenport: A product of American Bottom, an Illinois floodplain across the Mississippi from St. Louis, Steve Davenport is the author of two poetry collections: Overpass (2012) and Uncontainable Noise (2006).

Lindsey Gates-Markel: Lindsey Gates-Markel was born in Danville in 1983. She has done graduate fiction work at the University of Iowa and earned her MFA from Lesley University. She’s incapable of writing a story without a cat in it. Meow.

Thomas Luckie’s fiction has appeared in Atlas and Alice, First Stop Fiction, and Broken Pencil.

Mallory Matyk is a recent MFA grad currently residing in Chicago, where she is pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a Chicago Cubs bat girl.

Matthew Jager is a recent graduate of the Butler M.F.A. program. He frequents the Lincoln Park Zoo to watch the large primates, because they remind him of himself.
