Plant Mode launches Indiegogo campaign

You might recognize the name Matthis Helmick from his contributions to the magazine, or around Downtown Champaign performing music from time to time (Prologic Rebel Base Ensemble, Beats By Otter at Cowboy Monkey, and others). Hopefully, he can be seen a bit more in one place, that being a new space on Washington Street called Plant Mode.

Helmick just launched an Indiegogo campaign, raising funds for his brick and mortar retail space at 12 E. Washington in Downtown Champaign (pictured below). Here’s the beginning of the description section of the campaign page:

PLANT MODE

Plants = Plants, Mode = A way or manner in which something occurs or is experienced, expressed, or done.

My name is Matthis Helmick, and I am working towards opening a retail space called Plant Mode at 12 E. Washington street, in Downtown Champaign.

Plant Mode will offer much more than just plants. I hope to provide Downtown Champaign with a very unique retail experience.  A large selection of indoor air machines (PLANTS!) mixed in with fun and functional home goods, with the occasional random repurposed object.  Should be quite fun.

A small sample of products other than plants that Plant Mode will offer: Ceramics, Organic Soaps, Select New and Used Furniture and Fixtures, Plant Supplies, Soy Candles, Cool Pet items, Terrariums, Bud Vases, Wall Planters, a Nice Book Selection, Lighting, Wall Art, Random Fun Household Accessories, Tableware, Welcome Mats, and lots of other Well Designed Objects.

There will also be Plant Mode designed products that will eventually make its way into the retail stock.

Head over and check out the benefits of having a store like this Downtown are, plus his fundraising goal, and more information about the project.
