A 29-year-old bicyclist has died from injuries he received early Thursday after being hit by a pickup truck in Urbana. Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin said George Weisiger of Urbana was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital shortly after a 1:15 a.m. accident in the 1000 block of West Green Street in Urbana
Two witnesses told police that Mr. Weisiger had been riding his bike on the sidewalk and fell into the road, where he was struck by a passing pickup truck.
Police arrested the driver, Herman Wilson, 48, who listed an address in the 1800 block of Summit Drive, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
