UC Books to Prisoners is hosting their biannual book sale this Saturday, October 8th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Independent Media Center.
You can browse through more that 7000 books for both kids and adults, and most are priced at $2 or less.
Books to Prisoners accepts donated books throughout the year, then volunteers sort them and fill books requests from incarcerated people throughout Illinois, as well as supporting libraries in the Champaign County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center. However, not all books are able to be sent to prisons, for a variety of reasons. Selling these books helps to keep the program running.
Book donations are accepted throughout the year at drop off locations around the community. Financial donations can be made online or by mail to UC Books to Prisoners, P.O Box 515, Urbana, IL 61803.
